The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday formalised a set of memoranda of understanding for a data centre park and integrated township in the National Capital Region, positioning the state to capture rising demand for hyperscale computing capacity and technology-led urban development.
Officials said the proposed data centre infrastructure will support cloud services, enterprise workloads and AI processing requirements, aligning with India’s growing demand for domestic data storage and low-latency digital services. The project is expected to strengthen redundancy and data sovereignty capabilities while attracting technology firms seeking proximity to Delhi’s enterprise and government ecosystem.
Alongside the digital backbone, the planned township development is intended to support workforce housing, commercial zones and social infrastructure, reflecting a cluster-based approach to technology investment. Planners emphasise integrated utilities, transit access and energy-efficient building standards to ensure long-term sustainability.
Industry analysts note that NCR’s emergence as a data infrastructure hub is being driven by land availability, policy incentives and connectivity to fibre networks and power supply corridors. Long-term viability, however, will depend on reliable electricity provisioning, renewable energy integration and resilient cooling infrastructure to manage energy-intensive server environments.
