The Karnataka government is set to inaugurate a new main entrance to the Vidhana Soudha on March 25, adding to a series of structural upgrades planned for the seat of the state legislature in Bengaluru. The project combines traditional architectural elements with contemporary design, in line with efforts to preserve the building’s identity while improving functionality.
Officials indicated that the redevelopment includes the installation of solar panels to power parts of the complex, alongside plans for additional entry points to manage visitor flow and security. The upgrades are part of a broader attempt to modernise legacy public infrastructure without altering its symbolic character.
While the intervention is modest in scale, it signals a growing emphasis on sustainability in government buildings. The challenge will be to ensure that such retrofitting efforts move beyond isolated projects and become standard practice across public infrastructure in the state.
