Noida Airport Set for Major Connectivity Push as UP Plans 74 km Expressway Link to Ganga Expressway

Uttar Pradesh is moving ahead with a major road infrastructure project that will connect Noida International Airport with the Ganga Expressway through Bulandshahr, adding another important link to the growing transport network around Jewar.

The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority has invited tenders for the proposed 74 km access controlled road. The six lane corridor will connect the Yamuna Expressway near Film City in YEIDA Sector 21 with the Ganga Expressway near Syana in Bulandshahr. The road has been planned with provision for expansion to eight lanes in the future.

The project has received approval from the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet and is expected to be completed within three years. The estimated project cost is around Rs 8,586 crore. The state government has also approved Rs 250 crore under its supplementary budget for the project.

The new road is expected to improve access to Noida International Airport from Bulandshahr and other parts of western Uttar Pradesh. At present, traffic heading towards the airport relies heavily on the Yamuna Expressway and the existing road network around Greater Noida. The proposed corridor will provide another route for passengers, commercial vehicles and other traffic travelling towards the airport and areas connected to the Ganga Expressway.

The proposed expressway will start from the Yamuna Expressway at around the 24.8 km point near the upcoming Film City and travel towards Bulandshahr before joining the Ganga Expressway near Syana. The project will pass through 56 villages, including eight villages in Noida and 48 in Bulandshahr district.

Land acquisition for the corridor is already under way. Nearly 90 per cent of the land required in the Yamuna Authority area has reportedly been acquired, although around 23 hectares in Mehdipur and Bhaipur villages are still to be acquired.

The road will also include several structures and supporting facilities. The construction package is planned to include seven underpasses, 11 minor bridges, three major bridges, one flyover and four railway overbridges. Service roads, culverts, interchanges, drainage systems, fencing, traffic control equipment, CCTV cameras, emergency telephones and a central control centre are also part of the planned infrastructure.

The project will be developed in two stages. The first phase will cover about 24 km between Bhaipur Brahmanan in Greater Noida and Bichaula village in Bulandshahr. The second phase will cover the remaining 50 km towards Bahanpur in the Syana area.

The proposed road is also expected to have significance for the emerging New Noida region, formally known as the Dadri Noida Ghaziabad Investment Region. Around 20 km of the proposed corridor will pass through this wider development area, potentially improving movement between industrial zones and major transport routes.

The 74 km project is part of a much larger infrastructure expansion taking place around Noida International Airport. Another major proposal is the Yamuna Pushta Elevated Road, whose planned length has recently been increased from 31 km to around 50 km. The project is estimated to cost about Rs 4,000 crore and is being planned to bring the elevated corridor closer to the airport.

The wider road network is also expected to include the Faridabad Jewar Greenfield Expressway and the Chilla Elevated Road. Together, these projects could create several routes into the airport from different parts of Delhi NCR, western Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring regions.

Noida International Airport began commercial operations in June 2026, with IndiGo operating the first scheduled passenger flight. The airport has since added other airline operations, while plans for cargo connectivity are also developing.

For the real estate and industrial sectors, the expanding road network could be significant. Better access to an international airport can make surrounding locations more attractive for logistics parks, warehouses, hotels, offices, manufacturing facilities and residential projects. The Jewar region has already started seeing new real estate and industrial activity as developers and companies respond to the airport’s arrival.

The key challenge will now be execution. The benefits of the new corridor will depend not only on completing the 74 km road but also on how effectively it connects with the Yamuna Expressway, Ganga Expressway, local roads and other planned airport links.

If delivered as planned, the project could strengthen Noida International Airport’s role as a regional transport hub while giving western Uttar Pradesh a more connected road network.
