Noida Power Infrastructure Set for Upgrade as Jewar Drives Rising Demand

Noida’s electricity distribution infrastructure is set for further strengthening as rising residential, commercial and industrial demand puts pressure on the existing network across Gautam Buddh Nagar.

The Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), Noida zone, has been directed to speed up infrastructure projects, strengthen the distribution network and improve consumer grievance redressal across the district, according to officials.

The push comes as development accelerates across the region, particularly in Jewar, where the opening of Noida International Airport and the expansion of industrial activity are expected to increase electricity requirements.

One of the key proposals is the establishment of a departmental workshop in Jewar. Officials have also been asked to maintain adequate stocks of transformers so that damaged units can be replaced within the required time and power supply disruptions can be addressed more quickly.

A detailed action plan has also been sought for a major power substation in Sector 10 of Jewar. The area is expected to emerge as an important industrial hub, making reliable electricity supply increasingly important for factories, commercial developments and supporting infrastructure.

The latest direction comes against the backdrop of wider infrastructure development in the Noida and Greater Noida region. Jewar is rapidly becoming a major investment zone following the development of Noida International Airport, while the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority is expanding industrial and urban infrastructure around the airport corridor.

Reliable power supply will be an important part of this growth. Large industrial facilities, logistics parks, data centres, commercial buildings and residential developments all require stable electricity networks. As new projects come online, the distribution system will need to expand alongside them rather than respond only after demand increases.

PVVNL officials have been asked to complete sanctioned works under various power infrastructure schemes and the department’s business plan within their stipulated timelines. Authorities have also stressed regular maintenance, field inspections and faster restoration of supply when faults occur.

Gautam Buddh Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma has called for greater use of modern technology along with routine maintenance to improve the reliability of the distribution system. PVVNL Noida zone Chief Engineer Sanjay Kumar Jain said the department would continue strengthening the network and implement infrastructure and consumer-service initiatives within fixed timelines.

The development is significant for the wider Delhi-NCR infrastructure story. Noida and Greater Noida are moving beyond residential expansion, with the region increasingly attracting manufacturing, logistics, aviation-linked businesses and other large-scale developments.

The challenge now is to ensure that basic infrastructure keeps pace with this growth.

For Jewar in particular, the next phase of development will depend not only on roads and airport connectivity but also on reliable electricity, water, drainage and other essential urban infrastructure.

As NCR’s eastern growth corridor expands, power infrastructure could become one of the most important foundations supporting its next phase of industrial and real estate development.
