Gujarat is planning to develop a new rainforest-themed tourist attraction near the Statue of Unity.
The project will cover 12 acres and cost around ₹12 crore. It is expected to create artificial rainfall throughout the year, with the aim of attracting more tourists to Gujarat.
The rainforest will feature 20 rain-gun towers to create artificial rainfall, allowing visitors to experience a monsoon-like atmosphere throughout the year. The project will also include waterfalls and bubble fountains.
Several trees are planned to create a lush, forest-like environment. These trees are expected to represent different states of India.
Glass Skywalk: A Major Attraction
One of the biggest attractions will be a circular glass skywalk featuring 132 glass panels. Each panel will be made using 35 mm-thick Korean glass.
The elevated glass pathway will allow visitors to walk across the transparent panels. The skywalk is expected to offer a unique way to explore the rainforest, thanks to its distinctive structure. However, the details of this attraction are yet to be independently verified.
The Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, is dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Patel played an important role in uniting India after independence and is popularly known as the ‘Iron Man of India’.
The site also hosts several important national and international events, including police conferences, ambassadorial meetings and meetings of heads of missions.
PM Modi’s Visit to Gujarat on October 30–31
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Gujarat on October 30 and 31, 2026. During his visit, the Prime Minister will attend the Bharat Parv 2026 festival in Ekta Nagar and participate in the Narmada Aarti near the Statue of Unity on October 30.
Bharat Parv is scheduled to begin at 5 pm, followed by participation in the Ekta Prakash Parv at 7:45 pm. At around 8:15 pm, the Prime Minister is expected to participate in the Narmada Aarti.
On October 31, at around 9 am, the Prime Minister will pay floral tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹400 crore in Ekta Nagar. These include the Rainforest and Vaman Vriksha Vatika. He will also participate in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations.
The proposed rainforest is expected to become a major tourist attraction in Gujarat. Its artificial rainfall, waterfalls and green surroundings will offer visitors a year-round monsoon experience.
The glass skywalk could become another major attraction, encouraging more tourists to explore not only the Statue of Unity but also nearby destinations.
