India to Host 3rd BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting to Advance Sustainable Infrastructure and Global Connectivity

India is set to host the 3rd BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting in Nagpur, Maharashtra, on 11 and 12 July under its BRICS Chairship 2026. The high level gathering will bring together transport ministers and senior officials from BRICS member countries to discuss the future of sustainable transport infrastructure, multimodal connectivity and resilient logistics networks.

The meeting comes at a time when countries across the world are investing heavily in modern transport systems to support economic growth while reducing environmental impact. For India, the event presents an opportunity to showcase its infrastructure ambitions and strengthen collaboration with some of the world’s fastest growing economies.

Discussions will focus on several priority areas, including sustainable aviation fuel, urban mobility, multimodal transport, resilient supply chains, decarbonisation and the use of artificial intelligence in transport systems. The meeting will also review progress made since the previous BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meetings hosted by Russia and Brazil. India has adopted the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability (BRICS)”, which aligns with its long term vision of creating a modern, climate conscious and digitally enabled transport ecosystem. The government continues to promote initiatives that improve logistics efficiency while encouraging cleaner mobility solutions and integrated transport planning.

Efficient transport infrastructure plays a vital role in supporting trade, manufacturing and industrial growth. Better road, rail, port and aviation connectivity can significantly reduce logistics costs while improving supply chain reliability for businesses operating across domestic and international markets.

The BRICS grouping has expanded considerably in recent years and now represents nearly half of the world’s population and around 40 per cent of global GDP. Enhanced transport cooperation among member nations has the potential to strengthen trade links, improve regional connectivity and support more resilient global supply chains.

For India’s infrastructure and logistics sector, the meeting highlights the country’s growing influence in shaping global transport policy.
