India is taking a significant step towards data driven infrastructure planning, with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) launching a framework to share highway infrastructure and operational data with leading government research institutions. The initiative is expected to accelerate innovation in road engineering, traffic management, safety and sustainable transport planning.
The new framework will provide premier technology institutes and research organisations with access to both historical and real time highway data.
