Noida Plans New ₹235 Crore Elevated Road Linking Chilla Corridor With Sector 94

Noida is planning another elevated road to improve movement between Delhi and key parts of the city, with the Noida Authority asking IIT Roorkee to prepare a detailed project report for a proposed 2 km corridor. Estimated at ₹235 crore, the road is planned as an extension of the Chilla Elevated Road and could create a more direct route towards Sector 94.

The proposed elevated stretch would run parallel to the Shahdara drain before crossing the Magenta Line near the Okhla Bird Sanctuary metro station. It would then reach the Sector 94 roundabout and come down towards the Yamuna Pushta Road. The detailed project report is due on August 15, after which the proposal will need further clearances before construction can move ahead.

The main aim of the project is to provide signal-free movement from Mayur Vihar towards Sector 94. At present, commuters travelling between Delhi and Noida can face delays at busy junctions and roads, particularly during peak hours. A new elevated link could allow traffic to bypass some of these points and provide a smoother connection into central and southern parts of Noida.

The project could also improve access to sectors along the Noida Expressway, including Sectors 125 to 128. These areas have a growing mix of offices, educational institutions, residential developments and commercial activity. Better road access could make daily travel easier for people living and working in these parts of the city.

The proposed road is also significant because of its connection with the wider network being built around Noida. The Chilla Elevated Road is already being developed as a key link between Delhi and Noida. The new Sector 94 connection could extend the benefits of that corridor and create another route for vehicles travelling towards the Noida Expressway.

However, the project is still at the planning stage. Once IIT Roorkee submits the detailed project report, the proposal will need clearances from the Delhi government and the Irrigation Department because of the planned alignment near the Shahdara drain and the wider Yamuna area. Only after these approvals can the authority move towards tendering and construction.

For Noida, the proposal shows how the city is trying to address traffic pressure through a network of elevated roads rather than relying only on existing surface roads. The approach is becoming increasingly important as residential and commercial development expands across the city.

The project could also have an impact beyond commuting. Improved connectivity can make business districts easier to reach and strengthen links between established parts of Noida and newer development areas. For residents, the biggest benefit would be a quicker and more direct connection between Delhi, Sector 94 and the Noida Expressway.

The next important step will be the detailed project report. Its findings will determine the final alignment, technical requirements and implementation plan. If the proposal receives the required approvals, the ₹235 crore elevated road could become another important piece of Noida’s growing transport network.
