L&T to Build ₹2,670 Crore Noida Metro Extensions, Boosting NCR Connectivity

Noida’s public transport network is set for a major expansion after Larsen & Toubro (L&T) was selected to construct two new metro corridors under the Noida Metro Rail Corporation’s (NMRC) Aqua Line network. The projects, together valued at around ₹2,670 crore, are expected to improve connectivity across Noida and Greater Noida.

The two corridors include an 11.56-kilometre route between Botanical Garden and Sector 142 and a 2.6-kilometre extension from Depot station to Boraki. The Botanical Garden to Sector 142 corridor will have eight elevated stations, while the Depot to Boraki extension will include two stations.

The Botanical Garden to Sector 142 project is expected to improve access to one of Noida’s key commercial and office areas. Sector 142 has developed into an important business district, with a growing number of offices and commercial developments. Better metro connectivity could make daily travel easier for employees and reduce dependence on private vehicles.

The Botanical Garden connection is also important because the station provides an interchange with Delhi Metro’s Blue and Magenta lines. The Union Cabinet approved the 11.56-kilometre Botanical Garden to Sector 142 extension in February 2026, with the project expected to add another important link to Noida’s growing metro network.

The second corridor, connecting Depot station with Boraki, is expected to strengthen the transport network around Greater Noida. Boraki is planned as an important transport hub, making the metro extension relevant for future links between rail, road and metro services.

The projects could also have a wider impact on development along the routes. Better public transport often makes commercial and residential areas more accessible, while improved connectivity can support new business activity and reduce travel pressure on major roads.

For Noida and Greater Noida, the expansion comes at a time when the region is seeing continued growth in housing, offices, industrial activity and infrastructure. The need for reliable public transport is increasing as more people live and work across the wider NCR.

NMRC had earlier invited tenders for both corridors. The Botanical Garden to Sector 142 stretch was estimated at ₹2,254.35 crore, while the Depot to Boraki link was estimated at around ₹416 crore. The projects are expected to take several years to complete once construction begins.

The latest development marks another step in Noida’s efforts to expand its metro network and improve links between major employment centres and residential areas. For commuters, the key benefit will be more options to travel across the region without relying entirely on cars and other private vehicles.

As construction moves forward, the two corridors could become an important part of Noida’s wider infrastructure plan, supporting the region’s growth while improving public transport access across the NCR.
